Description
In Suspended Time the female face emerges as an axis between the organic and the mechanical. There is no violent tension; there is coexistence. Gears, clock faces and handwritten fragments do not imprison the figure: they orbit it. Time is not a prison, it is a fabric.
The composition is built in layers. The leather —modeled with translucent watercolor in cool blue-green ranges— contrasts with the warmth of aged metals. This chromatic dialogue is not coincidental: the human breathes, the metal persists. One flows; the other measures.
The white, delicate and almost botanical flowers interrupt the geometric rigidity of the mechanisms. They are the unpredictable variable. Life growing between cogwheels.
Watercolor stains do not decorate: they rust, erode, dissolve boundaries. The vertical splashes at the bottom reinforce the idea of gravity and step, while the handwritten backgrounds evoke memory, record, history. But the figure’s gaze does not look at the clock. Look beyond.
Time does not advance here. It expands.
The work is situated between scientific illustration, conceptual collage and contemporary ink and watercolor painting with metallic intervention. The visible paper texture provides museum corporeality, reinforcing its character as a piece intended for fine art printing in a limited edition.
